MADEIRADIG 2011: Digital Music Festival returns to Madeira, 2nd – 5th December

Calling all electro and digital music fans!  This year’s MADEIRADIG festival takes place from 2nd – 5th December 2011.  For three days, the volcanic island will be transformed into a hive of digital culture, but entry is strictly exclusive: in order to safeguard Madeira’s natural beauty, a limit of just 200 guests is imposed.

The event first launched in 2004, and is organised by the APCA – the Agência de Promoção da Cultura Atlântica – in association with Estalagem da Ponta do Sol, Digital in Berlin and Centro das Artes at Casa das Mudas.  It brings together digital musicians, film producers, artists and photographers from across the globe.

Held within the stunning setting of the island’s leading contemporary arts gallery, the festival also seeks to inspire local Madeiran artists and promote local talent.

Topping the bill this year is Lee Ranaldo, guitarist from the seminal and era-defining American rock band Sonic Youth.  Other acts to catch include the inspiring duo KTL, the experimental Nadja,  electro musician photographer and designer, Tim Hecker, Aki Onda’s ‘sound diary’ and many more.

When the night’s festivities draw to a close, visitors on the MADEIRADIG guest list can swap digital beats for the lappings of the ocean and join the DJs at their hotel accommodation – design hotel Estalagem da Ponta do Sol, where festival guests benefit from special rates

Madeira enjoys minimum temperates of 17ºC all year round, making MADEIRADIG the perfect excuse to beat the blues with some winter sun.  Click here to buy your tickets!
