Madeira is a very popular holiday destination as it appeals to a variety of different tastes as it synthesizes in a beautiful scenery holidays on the beach, in the mountains or in the city. Madeira is  the ideal place to relax while deap- sea fishing especially from June to September. On the other hand Botanists and members of the Horticultural Society must head for the Jardim Orquídea and the Botanical Garden, and other wonderful  gardens open to the public at the Quintas of Monte, Palheiro Ferreiro, Palmeira and Boa Vista.

Hire a car and travel into the countryside to see the wild garden of Madeira, with hydrangeas and agapanthus growing wild along the roadside. The  amazing natural environment , a live proof of which  remains the Laurissilva Forest, a relic of the Tertiary Age, that has been classified by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage Site will undoubtedly  fascinate you.

The island is full of small microclimates. The bay of Funchal, protected by the highest peaks, enjoys the best of sunshine. Further down the west coast at Ponta do Sol and Calheta, backed by the lower hills of the Paúl da Serra, the sun shines brighter during these months, but they are less protected from the sea winds. Additionally the water  ‘s temperature never goes below 17ºC  which will give you the chance to see as much as you can in the island.

The island’s tradition and customs deserves your undivided attention as the old buildings, museums and churches or even the original regional products like its wine have lasted trough centuries maintaining the island’s tradition.

Porto Santo, a heaven on earth with a 9 kilometre golden sand beach  , is 40 km away from Madeira  and with its crystalline waters will leave unforgettable memories to you!

As for the uninhabited Desertas and Selvagens Islands, take a trip there and, in a few hours, you will get to know some of the rarest fauna and flora on the planet. Located at about 22 miles southwest of the capital of Madeira, the Selvagens Islands are made up of two groups of small islands, Selvagem Grande and Selvagem Pequena and have a nature reserve as they are also considered a bird sanctuary because of the ideal nesting conditions , where some of the rarest flora of the planet can be traced as well.
